The end of Sandy's first no-hitter, June 30, 1962… Exhausted by their ordeal, they were swept in four games by the well-rested Baltimore Orioles, and in the last game of his career, Game 2, the 30-year-old Koufax lost 6 … Lasorda would later joke that it took Koufax to keep him off the Dodger pitching staff. This forced the Dodgers to keep him on the major league roster for at least two years before he could be sent to the minors.
