The other reviews have discussed the plot so I'll just say that this is a most enjoyable mix genre film,the fairly common horror/war hybrid.Wonders have been done with the low budget and the film is both tense and claustrophobic.However don't think too deeply about what's happening or you might have a brainstorm.The Nazi's accent becomes more Antipodean as the film progresses and the period feel is somewhat shakey-the Captain runs around brandishing a Luger in both hands in a very contemporary cop film stylee and the female demon is not remotely suggestive of the 1940s -she looks and sounds like something out a 2011 tv commercial.Niggles aside though,this is well worth a look.Three and a half stars actually. Well, my plan was dashed, because this, actually, is a really good movie, probably right up there with Outpost in terms of Nazi horror movies.

It is not always straight forward, and Corbett longs to be home with his wife and child. Since the film combines religion with full frontal nudity and graphic violence, it was hardly surprising that the movie provoked controversy when it was first shown at cinemas.

A well researched history of an event in the 1634 France of Cardinal Richelieu during the height of suppression of the Huguenot protestants, it centres on the total dangers of mixed powers and collusion of church and state, and the terrible consequences of the ultimate corruption that unfailingly ensues. Even back then, and most probably the film was well and truly cut for TV, but it still had an impact on me.

Zudem passiert nicht besonders viel und vorhersehbar ist der Film auch. The quality does not rise to the level of the BFI (British Film Institute) release, which DOES contain an extended edit of Ken Russell's masterpiece, but again without the notorious rape of Christ sequence.Various other scenes are trimmed up a bit more than I would like also. Not perfect, but not entirely destroyed by censors.
